Pumpkin Seeds Raise Sperm Counts Pumpkin seeds are particularly high in zinc. Zinc deficiency is linked to low sperm motility. Even a marginal zinc deficiency can cause sperm counts to drop precipitously. Zinc also affects female fertility, particularly in concert with vitamin B6 (vitamin B6 protects against estrogen - progesterone imbalance as well as elevated serum prolactin levels). Additionally, zinc is helpful against candida albicans. Zinc deficiency is also implicated in miscarriage, according to a recent Swedish study. “The thoughtful treatment of the possible link between diet and fertility in The Infertility Diet: Get Pregnant and Prevent Miscarriage should stimulate the scientific community to examine this connection more closely. It is important to recognize that the dietary strategies and lifestyle modifications in this book, if applied for a lifetime, may contribute to substantial benefits in preventing hypertension and heart diseases which are the leading causes of death in both women and men.” - Dr. Christopher O'Donnell, Cardiologist, Harvard Medical School |
